Global Wood Summit

Timber, Forest Products & Trade

The global demand and trade of logs, lumber, chips and pulp continues to be volatile and/or uncertain. How will markets and the industry adjust to what is coming next? And what is the outlook for markets, products and prices?

Global wood markets have seen huge price volatility between 2020 and 2022, but a much more subdued situation has existed since then. Those in the wood products and trade businesses need current and fresh perspectives on what lies ahead in various domestic and international markets. For their companies’ market planning and strategy-setting, firms need an understanding of the supply in global regions as well. Our strategic conference will provide the opportunity to expand and enhance knowledge and understanding in these key areas.

Join us on October 29th in Vancouver!

Russ Taylor Global and ERA Forest Products Research will combine forces to host the 2024 GLOBAL WOOD SUMMIT, with a focus on Timber, Forest Products & Trade. Our team has access to key industry, market and trading personnel around the world and we will assemble a cross-section of experts in their fields for the Summit. This will include company executives that have hands-on knowledge and experience in exporting and importing, in conjunction with strategic analysts and consultants (with little focus on general macroeconomic themes). This will allow discussions to focus in on the key trends, issues and dynamics that are occurring throughout the global wood business and trade.

The conference will promote networking to allow delegates to make direct contact with regional and international players to obtain a more robust consensus that incorporates the many moving parts of today’s complex world of wood.

FEATURING:

  • Two-day international presentations and panel discussions on forests, logs, lumber, pulp and paper, industry, trade and global markets.
  • Experienced North American and international speakers/specialists addressing strategic industry topics.
  • Two conference partners with expertise on global trends in markets, industry and trade, across a wide range of forest products.

New Travel Requirements for Entering Canada

International Delegates please note that there are “NEW” travel requirements for entering Canada.

Electronic Travel Authorizations: For international speakers and delegates flying to Canada directly or transiting through the US to Canada, you need to apply and obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to, or transit through, a Canadian airport. It costs only CAN$7 (US$5), but is a new travel requirement.

See: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-
canada/eta/facts.html

Similarly, if you are transiting through the US to Canada, you will need to apply and obtain an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before checking in for a flight to the U.S. (you will need both if you transit through the US to Canada).

See:
https://www.united.com/en/us/fly/travel/trip-planning/esta.html

Both of these travel authorizations are new this year. You will not be allowed on the plane, and you will miss your flight if you do not have these electronic documents 24 to 72 hours before your flight. This does not apply to US citizens flying from the US to Canada or Canada to the US.
